Shalom Ramah Berkshires family,

I am delighted to share an update on our Kayitz ’23 leadership team.

This year we are working towards a summer of excellence and clear expectations.  Our theme for Kayitz ’23 is Derech Eretz – Respect.  Respect for others, for ourselves, and for our makom kaddosh – our campus.

We’re excited about reimagining Camp.  The care and experience of our campers is our top priority and for this update we are pleased to share exciting additions to our camper care teams.

Elisheva Layman Salant has been named Director of Community Care and Inclusion.  Elisheva has made a significant impact since joining us in the fall to launch our Tikvah pilot program—designed to offer campers with intellectual or developmental delays a complete scope of Camp activities—as well as overseeing Breira B’Ramah, and has already spoken to many of you as you plan for this summer.  In her expanded role, Elisheva will be supervising our camper care team, intake, admissions and behavior management.

As part of our commitment to camper care, we are adding two important roles this summer - Rosh Yoetz Aleph and Rosh Yoetz Bet (Heads of Camper Care for A-side and B-side).  We are excited to have talented Ramah Berkshires veterans filling these roles - Yaron Goldrich, a school psychologist, and Vanessa Kerchner, an experienced social worker.  Both Yaron and Vanessa are skilled mental health professionals with a demonstrated track record of providing care and support to our campers and staff in their prior roles at Camp as yoatzim (camper care specialists).  Yaron and Vanessa will work closely to train and support the counselors before and during the summer and will oversee our edot yoatzim.

As Kayitz '23 nears, we continue to build a talented and experienced summer staff.  I look forward to updating you in the weeks ahead on our progress in other areas of Camp.

Kol tuv,

Susie Charendoff
